Before Buying a Home in Southern Arizona, Drive Your Daily Routine
Before Buying the House, Drive Your Ordinary Week Buyers naturally investigate bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, yards and prices. But location deserves a more practical test than simply looking at a map.
Drive your ordinary week.
If you are relocating to Green Valley, Sahuarita, Quail Creek or another Southern Arizona community, identify the places likely to become part of your regular routine.
Where will you buy groceries?
Where are the medical providers or facilities you expect to use?
Where will you exercise?
If golf, church, volunteering, restaurants, clubs or trips into Tucson are important to you, test those routes too.
Distance and convenience are not always the same thing.
A destination may appear nearby on a map while the actual route, traffic pattern or access point makes the trip feel different.
Retirement changes commuting, but it does not necessarily eliminate it. The destinations simply change.
Martha’s Tip: Create a list of the five places you expect to visit most frequently. When a house becomes a serious contender, drive from that property to at least three of them.
The right home should work with your life outside its walls, too.
