Make Something Every Day: The Creative Arts & Technology Center at Quail Creek

June 19, 20262 min read

Glass art, pottery, silversmithing, woodworking, quilting, and a fully equipped computer lab — the CATC at Quail Creek is one of Southern Arizona's most impressive creative facilities.

For many active adults, the transition to a new community is also an invitation to finally explore the creative interests that busy careers never had room for. At Quail Creek Country Club, the Creative Arts & Technology Center — known as the CATC — is where those intentions become reality.

Art Glass Studio — light and color transformed

Few amenities in active-adult communities match the scope of Quail Creek's Art Glass Studio. Residents learn and practice fused glass, slumping, glass jewelry making, mosaic work, and stained glass — guided by club instruction and open studio access. The results aren't hobby-grade; they're genuinely beautiful works that find their way into homes and art shows alike.

Fine Arts Studio and Ceramics

The Fine Arts Studio supports painting, two-dimensional art, workshops, demonstrations, lectures, and open studio time, with regular art shows and exhibits giving residents a genuine audience for their work. The Ceramics Club operates alongside it with ceramic painting, bisqueware, greenware molds, and glazes — a traditional studio experience without leaving the neighborhood.

POTS — Pottery & Sculpture Studio

Hand building, wheel throwing, clay sculpting, and glazing techniques are all available at POTS, Quail Creek's dedicated pottery and sculpture studio. It's the kind of hands-in-clay experience that draws new residents in quickly and keeps them coming back.

Jewelry & Lapidary — stones to wearable art

The Jewelry & Lapidary Studio is equipped with a rock saw, grinders, polishers, soldering equipment, and a kiln — supporting stone cutting, polishing, silversmithing, chain making, bead weaving, and precious metal clay work. Arizona's rich lapidary tradition finds a natural home here.

Quilting, needlework, paper arts, and woodworking

The Quilting & Needleworking Studio covers quilting, embroidery, crochet, knitting, and fabric arts. Paper Crafters brings together scrapbooking and card making. The Woodworking Shop rounds out the crafts side with furniture projects, wood inlay, wood burning, and whittling.

Technology Room — learning made accessible

The CATC's Technology Room balances the creative side with practical learning. Equipped with both Apple and Windows computers, high-speed Wi-Fi, a slide and photo scanner, high-definition projector, and color laser printer, it's a genuine resource for residents navigating digital life. Computer Club classes and help clinics make technology approachable, not intimidating.
